Haytown Nursery School is run by the school’s director and a board of directors comprised of parents who have children attending the school.

The school’s director and all of our teachers are highly motivated in the area of child development.

• Every member of our staff has at least a four year degree.
• Each year our teachers continue to build on their many years of practical experience by taking additional classes in child education.

The backgrounds of our teachers, in addition to their experiences at Haytown Nursery School, offer a wide spectrum of developmentally appropriate experiences that benefit those children who attend our school.

• Our director has been at Haytown Nursery School for almost 20 years.
• Our classroom teachers average 12 years at Haytown Nursery School. 

The tremendous continuity of our staff allows us to:

• create an educational base where teachers know how to work well with one another
• provide continuity in planning a curriculum that is appropriate for the children

Children at Haytown Nursery School benefit from working with the same teachers during a single school year.  But they also benefit from working with and seeing the same faces over the several years that they attend our school.

Special Considerations

Children with Special Dietary Needs and Allergies

The entire staff attends workshops that focus on children with allergies and special dietary needs. 

Our teachers and the school’s director are committed to working with parents to:

• create a plan to provide a safe environment for a child with dietary restrictions and allergies
• develop procedures to provide emergency assistance from the staff if the child needs it

First Aid and Safety Training

At the beginning of each school year the staff attends a first aid course or becomes re-certified in CPR.

Healthy Snack Philosophy - Peanut-Free Classroom Environment

To ensure the safety of children who have allergies to nuts, Haytown Nursery School is both a peanut-free and nut-free classroom environment.  All products that contain peanuts, peanut oil, and peanut butter are not permitted in the classroom.

Year after year Haytown Nursery School parents remain committed to providing healthy food for the children to eat at snack time.  For example snacks most often consist of fresh fruit, vegetables, healthy crackers, cheeses, water and milk.

Parents with Multiples

Our staff has many years of experience helping children from a multiple setting (for example: twins and triplets).  They help them grow to be confident and independent individuals, while also recognizing and nurturing the natural bond that these children have with one another. 

They give children separate daily opportunities and responsibilities to help them develop socially and emotionally independent from one another, and to help them develop their own strengths and interests.
