"Haytown is a truly great school! Thank you for the bright, clean and colorful classrooms, enthusiastic teachers and the best playground around!" – John Gaybeal

Our staff delivers a specialized, broad-based curriculum in a variety of settings, to meet the varying developmental differences in young children.

Younger Child Program

Our younger children spend their day in a double-size classroom.  A large table, located in the middle of this room is used for project time.  Play centers are found throughout the rest of this large room.

For example a:

  • building block area
  • reading corner
  • play-kitchen section
  • dress-up area
  • arts and crafts
  • small manipulatives center (ie., LEGOS©, puzzles, BRIO©, star links)
  • classroom library

Children also rotate through a variety of activities that use a puppet theater, dinosaur center, a zoo animal’s area, trucks section, and easels.

Older Child Program

Haytown Nursery School’s older class utilizes three different rooms.

  1. Play Room: The children have circle time, show and tell, calendar lessons and are involved in early day activities in the play room.  Here is where the children interact with small manipulatives, science projects, arts and crafts, a play kitchen and a library.
  2. Paint and Block Room: Children explore and develop their creativity in this room using double sided easels, large and small blocks. During the year it becomes the center for creativity with our rocket ship and teepee.
  3. Project Room and Snack: This room is used for larger arts and craft projects and also for snack time.

Main Library

As a result of a very successful scholastic book program run by our parents, our own school library has grown to over 1600 books. Teachers have tremendous flexibility to select from a diverse collection of books when planning units within their curriculum.

Community Center

Located on the second floor of our facility is a small auditorium used for:

  • physical education activities
  • performances by our children (sing-a-longs, plays, parades)
  • science assemblies
  • educational programs
  • folk singers
  • story tellers

Playground

“The playground at Haytown Nursery School is by far the best I have seen at any preschool in our area. The playground equipment and the surrounding grounds are well maintained and very safe for our children to play on. I really like the fact that the playground is located behind the school and completely fenced in.” – Maria Grant

The playground is located behind the school, away from the road.  It is completely fenced in, with direct access from the main entrance of the school.  It has a wonderful variety of equipment to promote a child’s coordination, balance and physical strength.
